Get Married Whilst At Carden Cottages

Why not get married or engaged whilst staying at Carden? Getting married might be an option you didn’t realise was available, so I’m delighted to let you know you can get married anywhere and anyhow in Scotland.

Scotland has its own marriage laws

Scotland has its own marriage laws – it has had for centuries – which is why it is regarded as such an attractive place to ‘tie the knot’ (which could be very literally if you like the idea of having a Celtic handfasting ritual!)

Here at Carden we can accommodate tiny weddings for two either in your chosen apartment or garden, or maybe you’d like to be outside in nature overlooking our wee loch? Debbie and I can act as legal witnesses for you if needed as you need two people to be present aged at least sixteen (I think we would just qualify!)

For medium to large weddings, you might book all the cottages so you have exclusive use of Carden, and then hold your ceremony in the appropriately ‘decorated for the occasion’ games room, or we could even help with sourcing chairs and a marquee on the grass lawn.

There Are Many Other Beauty Spots

There are also many local beauty spots which might appeal for your proposal or wedding ceremony or post ceremony photos – the ancient ruins of Duffus Castle and Elgin Cathedral are close by, as well as the beautiful beaches of Findhorn, Roseisle and the Findhorn River to name just a few popular and scenic locations.

  • Roseisle Beach
  • Elgin Cathedral
  • Duffus Castle
  • River Findhorn

Whether you would like a non legal or simple civil ceremony at short notice, or something very personal and intimate planned a year or so in advance, or even just a photo shoot of your engagement, we can help. Or what about a memorable event full of Celtic ritual like a handtying or sharing a drink from the Quaich?

Whatever your beliefs or needs, we can help

Whatever most appeals to you, we have local, friendly and helpful suppliers to hand – a celebrant or minister who can honour your beliefs whatever they are, a photographer, a caterer or a piper – whatever you need we’re happy to help and want to do whatever we can to add to your excitement and enjoyment.
